I woke to an old black dog’s stare
A glance at the clock brought despair
I tried to turn ‘round
But Duke made that sound
Meaning, “HEY. MY FOOD’S OVER THERE.”
Fed him and returned to my slumber
Time, an irrelevant number
I slept until noon
What a lazy buffoon
It’s tough to be so unencumbered
Had a call with Walmart soon after
Their seller support, a disaster
Tried to be patient
And nice-adjacent
Success overwhelmed me with rapture
Momentum led me to the gym
Biggie sang an inspiring hymn
Cardio and core,
a bit of a bore
Did some hamstring curls on a whim
Called my lovely parents on FaceTime
Shit I don’t know what rhymes with FaceTime
Loved seeing their faces
We talked of new places
To live that are outside these state lines
Next was a late business meeting
Duke supervised the proceedings
We got a lot done
And still had some fun
This is the key to succeeding
Now I’m writing these quick little rhymes
Windows open - the storm is sublime
It’s been a good day
Not much left to say
It’s nice to appreciate these times
